THE SEASON OF REST IS THE GREEN PASTURE.
WRITTEN BY NATHAN GRIFFITH
I have a word for anyone who feels like the Lord
is making you slow down and rest:
Psalm 23:2 says,
“He makes me lie down in green pastures.”
If/when we find ourselves in this type of season, it’s easy to look ahead and think
“the grass is greener over there for that person” or “the grass is greener up ahead in a future season.”
I want to tell you, friend:
the “grass is greener” idea is a lie.
The Lord recently spoke to me:
“the season of rest is the green pasture.”
Meaning, if God is making you lie down, it is not better anywhere else.
How can that be true?
I instantly thought of Moses in Exodus 33:14-15
when the Lord tells him:
“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
And Moses said to him, “If your presence will not go with me,
do not bring us up from here.”
Moses hated the idea of moving forward without the Lord.
He said, “if you’re not going, I’m not going!”
May we take the same posture!
And notice what God connects His presence with - rest.
Let me tell you, friend:
if He’s making you lie down that means His hand is on you.
That means you’re in His presence.
The grass is not greener somewhere else because the Lord is not somewhere else.
He is there with you making you lie down. Don’t forget that.
I pray this word encourages you to not resist His hand. Give in to the Psalm 23:2 season.
Embrace it and ask God to do a deep work in you. Don’t get up before He lets you up. Don’t move forward if He’s not moving forward.
The season of rest is the green pasture. And the reason the grass is green is because He is there.
